Karen Schipper is an illustrator and greeting card designer. She creates art that aims to inspire optimism and encourage relationships. Growing up in Hong Kong — the tropical land of pastel skyscrapers, Karen was raised in a home of boisterous personalities with a good dosage of Cantonese-dubbed Japanese cartoons and a satisfied belly of scrumptious food. She made her own handmade cards since she was a child and cannot seem to shake off her love of stationery.
With a BFA in graphic design and a decade of design experience, Karen’s illustrations are rooted in design thinking with a side of whimsy. Her work weaves together her childhood years, her background in design, and her joy in the every day. She currently resides in Greenville, South Carolina with her husband, son, and dog. When she’s not in her studio, you’ll find Karen trying new recipes, rummaging thrift stores, or taking long walks with her family.
